Some people are so hard hearted upon their path of bid’ah. Allāh’s aid is sought!
This morning, I watched a video of one Alfa saying Salafis should stop warning against the bid’ah of Mawlid Celebration because we cannot succeed in it. He said we should focus on things that we can succeed in because it is what people are mostly warned against that they usually love to engage in. This clearly shows that the people of bid’ah are people of desire.
But I am happy that the examples he gave regarding people loving to do what they are warned against were negative:
-Warning a kid not to eat from the food he is sent to buy, yet he eats from it (sin)
-Warning Adam and Hawa not to eat from the fruit and they ate from it (sin)
As Muslims, we cannot choose to do whatever we like. It is a must for us to move away from shirk, bid’ah and other sinful things. Then, engaging in any of them open and boastfully is more dangerous. Allāh’s aid is sought! We cannot choose to engage in anything that is not permissible for us to engage in just because we like it. What we love to do must align with what Allāh and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم loves. Allāh says:
It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error. (QS. Al-Ahzaab: Verse 36)
The people of bid’ah know that Mawlid Nabiyy Celebration is bid’ah and sinful, but they are sticking to it arrogantly just because they don’t want to take corrections from us (Salafis). They have allowed their minds to be sealed with their arrogance. The path of bid’ah is a path of misguidance. But many people today take it so lightly. We are keen about their guidance to the path of the Sunnah, but they are adamant upon their misguidance (glorified shirk, Bid’ah etc.). Their mission is to follow their Shuyukh blindly even when it is obvious that the past Shuyukh we’re upon clear error. That video clearly shows that it is only those who toe the path of guidance that will be guided. Allāh does not guide arrogant people who deliberately choose to follow the wrong path even in the face of clear and unambiguous admonitions.
This reminds me of the verse in Suratun Nahl where Allāh said to the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم regarding the Kuiffār;
[Even] if you should strive for their guidance, [O Muhammad], indeed, Allah does not guide those He sends astray, and they will have no helpers. (QS. An-Nahl: Verse 37)
Then, regarding his comment that we cannot succeed in our warnings against the bid’ah of Mawlid, it is obvious that we have achieved success on it to a great extent. When we were very small, it was very hard to find anyone coming out boldly to speak or write against the bid’ah of Mawlid Celebration. But Alhamdulillah, today, we are speaking and writing boldly against it and a lot of people have no only be guided to refrain from celebrating Mawlid, they have been guided to the Sunnah according to the understanding of the Salaf. It is also our belief that the awareness of Sunnah will continue to grow, and Allāh will always guide those He wishes.
We would not stop opposing the bid’ah of Mawlid Nabiyy Celebration just as the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, the companions رضي الله عنهم and the past scholars of this Ummah from one generation to another رحمهم الله did not stop warning against any bid’ah that appeared during their times. Allāh would still guide those that He wishes to the right path.
May Allāh continue to guide us aright.
