Before entering into a marriage contract, please make sure that you and your partner have proper understanding of the Islamic injunctions on it and you are both ready to put them into practice.
If it is a polygyny, all parties involved should read and learn about it with the intention to apply sharī’ah principles and professional guidelines relating to it. Polygyny is not for the feeble minded and I can confirm that many enter it with little or no orientation on it from the Islamic perspective.
Some of the major causes of marital disputes among Muslims today are ignorance, self desire, over bloated expectation, following unislamic values, lack of accountability.
It is dangerous to be with an ignorant spouse. A spouse that acts according to his or her desire will be inevitably toxic. Expecting a spouse to be flawless or perfect is an illusion. A life with a spouse that goes by common trends regardless of what Islam says is a hell. Being with a spouse who holds the principle that he or she can never be questioned or reported when it is fundamentally necessary is depressive.
May Allāh protect us from marital trials and other trials that can shake our faith.
